Biography —
Qixin Pan is a Ph.D. Candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kansas. His research focuses on the intersections of labor, culture, and gender. His dissertation, directed by Dr. Brian Donovan, examines the identities, embodied skills, and culinary knowledge of Chinese immigrant cooks in the United States. Pan has been selected as the 2026–2027 ASFS (Association for the Study of Food and Society) Research Fellow. In addition to his research, he has independently instructed undergraduate courses, including Elements of Sociology (SOC 104) and Comparative Societies (SOC 130). He also serves as an Editorial Assistant for International Sociology Reviews and recently presented research on precarious labor at the ASA Annual Meeting.
