Alpha Kappa Delta

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the International Honor Society of Sociology and seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of social problems, sociology, and intellectual activities that lead to improvements in the human condition. The Beta Chapter of Kansas is one of the four charter members of AKD and has been in existence for over 100 years.

This year our chapter welcomed 31 new members. Undergraduate inductees: Addy Blankenhorn, Myla Bowen, Blair Brose, Claire Brown, Crystal Casas, Kayla Cook, Paige Dalton, Madeline Deasy, Janelli Gonzalez, Rachel Goodrich, Joy Haney, Leah Heischmidt, Estrella Hernandez, Sydney Keizer, Amelia Knopp, Jade Moore, Mary Morales, Chloe Peacock, Josephine Pemberton, Lillian Robinson, Audrey Shain, Nora Sheridan, Isabella Snow, Madison Stewart, Cadence Tuck, Isabella Wade, and Belle Wegner. Graduate inductees: Xiaoyan Liang, Matheus Romanetto, Hameed Bakare, and Alyssa Lewis.

The Beta Chapter of Kansas was awarded $1800 to support the travel of eight members presenting at the Mid-West Sociological Society Annual Meeting: Hameed Bakare, Kaniz Fatema, Rachael Hampton, Alyssa Lewis, Xiaoyan Liang, Grace Price-Brown, Abi Scoville, and Matheus Romanetto
